ALAMO COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL SYSTEM

The Alamo Community College District has established a Performance Appraisal program that provides for mandatory annual reviews of full-time and part-time regular Classified, Professional and Administrative employees. The value of performance appraisal is in the process of communication between supervisor and employee and not merely the completion of the form.

Q: When will we start the appraisal process?

A: The initial appraisal period starts on April 1st. At this time the supervisors will meet with the employees and set standards/goals for the appraisal period. The first appraisal period will be April to October (six months). During this time the supervisors will track employees performance against the standards that were originally set in April. In October, the supervisors will again meet with the employees to give feedback (written appraisal).

NOTE:  Your first step should be to complete the online or printable version of the training (see link to the left).  This will provide you with a better understanding of how to use the form and the evaluation process.  All forms were created in Microsoft Word and the training was created in Microsoft Power Point for simplicity and compatibility.

 

PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL TRAINING

The online training sessions (online employee training & online supervisor training) are Power Point presentations that you can use to become more familiar with the appraisal form and the processes involved.  The printable training sessions (printable employee training & printable supervisor training) are Word documents that can be opened and printed.  All employees are encouraged to review both training versions, the supervisor training and the employee training.

   

STAFF PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL

The online version of the appraisal form should be opened and saved to your hard drive.  You can then open the form as a Word document.  This will allow you to complete the form at your convenience.  More instructions are included in the appraisal form and in the online training. 

 

You can not type into the printable version of the appraisal form.  The form is for the supervisor who feels more comfortable hand writing the information into the form.  It can also be used for the employee self evaluation.

 

The performance measurement definitions & examples are available to assist you in completing the performance measurement section of the appraisal form.  If you will be using the printable version you should print this document at the same time you print the appraisal form.  If you will be using the online version you can copy and paste the examples from this document into the appraisal form.

 

The job descriptions link will take you to the Human Resources web page where you can locate the job description(s) for the employee(s) that you are evaluating.  If you are using the printable version of the appraisal form you will need to print out the employee's job description.  This will allow you to copy the pertinent information into the appraisal form.

 

The performance event file can be used to document positive and negative events throughout the year.

 

The R-A-P worksheet can be used as a short employee self evaluation.
