TEXAS Grant
The Texas Grant was established to assist recent high school graduates with financial need to attend college. Students who are eligible to participate after their initial year may continue to receive funds based on renewal eligibility for up to 5-years or 150 hours, whichever comes first.
Initial Eligibility Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited Texas high school
- Complete the Recommended or Distinguished High School Program
- Be a Texas resident
- Apply for financial aid via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Undocumented students must submit a completed HB1403
- Show financial need with an estimated family contribution (EFC) equal to or less than $4,000
- Be within the first 30 hours of college credit
- Enroll in at least 9 credit hours per semester at home campus
- Register for Selective Service, unless exempt
- Not been convicted of a felony or crime involving a controlled substance
1st year Renewal Eligibility Requirements:
- Complete 67% of all hours attempted
- 2.0 GPA
- Apply for financial aid via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Undocumented students must submit a completed HB1403 packet
- Show Financial Need
- Enroll in at least 9 credit hours per semester at home campus
- Not been convicted of a felony or crime involving a controlled substance
2nd year and Beyond Renewal Eligibility Requirements:
- Complete 75% of all courses attempted
- 2.5 GPA
- 24 hours completed in previous academic year
- Apply for financial aid via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Undocumented students must submit a completed HB1403 packet
- Show financial need
- Enroll in at least 9 credit hours per semester at home school
- Not been convicted of a felony or crime involving a controlled substance

Award Amount:
Eligible students are eligible for up $1780 per academic year
