Mexican Universities Presidents Visit Alamo Colleges for The Global Workforce Institute

A delegation of 20 Technological Universities of Mexico, including 13 Presidents, visited the Alamo Colleges on April 29 – 30, 2010 as part of the Global Workforce Institute.
Dr. Bruce Leslie, Chancellor welcomed the group and Dr. Federico Zaragoza, Vice Chancellor Economic & Workforce Development provided an overview of the Alamo Colleges Workforce Development programs, models and global initiatives. Helen Torres, from San Antonio College provided an overview of the ESL Master Teachers Program for Mexican Educators and the potential to expand partnering opportunities through distance learning.
The presidents participated in a “Carousel of Programs Exchange” with Departmental and Industry leaders who provided information on: Alternative Power Energy – Aerodynamics – Advanced Manufacturing – Mechatronics - Health – Culinary Arts. The group also participated in visits to San Antonio College, St Philip’s College-Southwest Campus, the “Green” House at Mission Verde, Southwest Research Institute, and Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
Dr. Bruce Leslie, Chancellor of Alamo Colleges signed MOU’s with Presidents from 13 of the Mexican Universities to initiate the development and collaboration of workforce programs.
