His work has been exhibited at Corcoran Gallery of Art, Brooklyn Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts and Museo de Arte Moderno. In 1999, he was the subject of a major McNay Art Museum retrospective. The Laredo native received his undergraduate degree in art from Texas A&I University in Kingsville in 1968. He has been a full-time artist based in San Antonio since 1971, and his work addresses the concerns and issues of contemporary Chicano culture.
