The Alamo Colleges host students from many regions of the world.
These students represent countries such as Mexico, South Korea,
Vietnam, India, Colombia, Japan, Thailand, Morocco, Brazil, Mongolia,
and Nepal.
So why do international students choose Alamo Colleges? All employers
seek culturally competent employees who speak English and possess the
global skills and competencies in their respective academic and
professional fields. Our colleges have a reputation for academic
excellence and rigorous English as a Second Language programs. Thanks to
our smaller class sizes, we offer a supportive and collaborative
learning environment.
Alamo Colleges also provide international students the opportunity to
transfer to a four-year university to complete a bachelor’s degree, and
for some to attend graduate school.
International Student Services (ISS) offers comprehensive
assistance to international students who choose to attend one of the
five Alamo Colleges. Services offered include
- International Admission Processing. The ISS accepts all international applications and transcripts for admission, and issues the form I-20 for the student visa.
- Immigration Advising. International
Advisors provide information on a variety of immigration matters,
including authorization for employment, extension of stay,
re-instatement and change of non-immigrant status.
- General Assistance. The ISS staff can
provide letters documenting enrollment for embassies, banks, and
military organizations. Applications for Social Security cards and the
necessary letters are also available.
