Art Appreciation (ARTS 1301) and World Cultures (HUMA 2323)


Students are required to take two courses and will receive six credit hours upon successful completion of the program.


2.0 GPA and 12 cumulative academic credits. Alamo Colleges expects study abroad participants to perform academically at standards commensurate with on-campus performance. This includes attending class, taking exams, reading required materials, completing homework, etc. If students' GPA drops below a 2.0 before they study abroad, they will not be allowed to participate in the program.


Professor Mark Hogensen  is a professor of art at palo alto college. Professor Hogensen has led student programs to Spain on three occasions and has traveled extensively in  Europe. Mr Hogensen led the Italy program in the summers of 2015, 2016 and, 2017. He will be the primary lead faculty for Art Appreciation (ART 1301). He has participated Fulbright seminars in Egypt, Bulgaria, and turkey. His artwork is widely exhibited and collected. He is a graduate of Oregon State University of Texas at San Antonio. Professor  Neil Lewis  is a humanities Professor at Northwest Vista College. He has taught Humanities and History classes at Northwest Vista for over 10 years. He has also taught English in China ( summer 2004) and Ethiopia ( summer 2012). He has extensive experience traveling abroad. Professor Lewis led the Alamo Colleges Study Abroad program summer 2014. *$5,700 Includes airfare, lodging, in-country transportation, some meals, entrance fees. This does NOT  include  tuition, passport fees, visa fees, books, materials and  spending money. Financial aid is available. Summer Momentum Scholarship may apply towards tuition fees.

Alamo Colleges District Study Abroad Scholarship Information:

Students receiving a Pell grant are eligible for the Benjamin Gilman Scholarship. If awarded, students may receive up to $5,000./
