Art and Theatre: Exploring London Through Lens and Stage

Students will be exposed to thehistory oftheatre bystudying atthe Globe Theatre, visiting Shakespeare's birthplace and attending plays inLondon's vibrant West Endtheatre district. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to take photographs in one of thecultural andartistic capitals of theworld. They will learn about architectural, landscape, andtravel photography as well as howto develop their ownartistic aesthetic as photographers.

May 23 to June 7, 2017

 

COURSES:
History of Theatre (DRAM 2361) and Photography I/II (ARTS 2356/2357)  

 

ACADEMIC INFORMATION:

Students are required to take two classes and will receive six credit hours upon successful completion of the program.

 

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:

2.0GPA and 12 cumulative academiccredit hours. Alamo Colleges expects study abroad participants to perform academically at standardscommensurate with on-campus performance. This includes attendingclass, taking exams, reading required materials, completing homework, etc. If students' GPA drops below a 2.0 before they study abroad,they will not be allowed to participate in the program. 


FACULTY LEADERS:

Professor Lisa Fritschle will be the primary instructor and lead faculty for History of Theatre (DRAM 2361). She currently serves as Director of Theatre at Northeast Lakeview College. She has taught theatre for fourteen years both in high school and college. Mrs. Fritschle led the London program in the winter of 2014 and summer 2016. She also led student programs to London and New York.  Contact: lfritschle@alamo.edu 

Professor Caroline Davis will be the co-leader and lead faculty for Art. She is an Assistant Professor of Fine Arts at Northeast Lakeview College. She will be the primary instructor and lead faculty for Photography I/II (ARTS 2356/2357). Additionally, Ms. Davis has traveled to England, Scotland, Ireland,France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Canada. She led the London program in the summer of 2016. PROGRAM FEE:

*$4,400 Includes airfare, lodging, in-country transportation, some meals, entrance fees. This does NOT include tuition, passport fees, visa fees, books, materials and spending money. Financial aid is available. 

 

APPLICATION DEADLINE:

November 18, 2016......................... $200 due with application(non-refundable)

Once studentsare accepted into the program,they will follow the scheduled payments: 

December 2, 2016 ................................. $500 initial deposit 

January 20, 2017 ..................................... $1,233 

February 10, 2017 ................................... $1,233 

March 10, 2017 ...................................... $1,234

 Failure to pay by the scheduled deadlines will result in cancellation of participation in the selected Study Abroad program.

Day 3     Theatre History Walk  

Day 4     Shakespeare’s Tour  

Day 5     Free day for research 

Day 6     Workshop and Tour at the Globe Theatre  

Day 7      Tate Modern Museum 

Day 8     Drury Lane Theatre Tour 

Day 9     Victoria and Albert Museum and Photo Gallery  

Day 10  Research on a museum 

Day 11  Tower of London 

Day 12  Design Museum and Kensington Palace  

Day 13  Hampton Court Palace 

Day 14  Free Day  

Day 15  Return home

SCHOLARSHIP:

Students  receiving  a  Pell  grant  are  eligible  for  the  Benjamin Gilman  Scholarship. If  awarded,  students  may  receive  up  to
