COMPUTER APPLICATIONS

Elementary 3rd - 5th Grade

Week 1 - Introduce/Refresh - Logging on/off of the campus computers. Mini lessons on Microsoft Word. Mini lessons on MS PowerPoint. Internet usage and rules. Folders (Open folders, save information to folders, and maneuver from one page to another in folders)
 

Week 2 - Ocean Animals - Research information on a specific ocean animal and record information on research document. Create PowerPoint slides and input information on to slides. Add clip art and designs to slide. Present slideshow to class.

Week 3 - U.S. Symbols - Research information on a specific ocean animal and record information on research document. Create PowerPoint slides and input information on to slides Add clip art and designs to slide. Present slideshow to class

Middle School 6th - 8th Grade

Week 1 - Microsoft Word - General introduction. How to open word document. Create a new document. How to save document. Toolbar and taskbar icons. Special features (i.e. bullets, indentation, columns, tables, pictures, word art, clip art, page border, AutoShapes, etc.) Students will create a newspaper style document using research about Inventors. .

Week 2 - Microsoft Excel - General introduction. How to open excel spreadsheet. Create a new spreadsheet. How to save spreadsheet. Toolbar and taskbar icons. Special features (i.e. merge cells, wrap cells, formulas, cells characteristics, basic graphs, comment popups, introduction to Macros, etc.)
Students will create a word search, crossword puzzle and spinner board game using information about Space.

Week 3 - Microsoft PowerPoint - General introduction. How to open powerpoint document. Create a new presentation. How to save presentation. Toolbar and taskbar icons. Special features.(i.e. custom animation, sounds, transitions, action buttons, etc.) Students will create an interactive quiz game on Animals using action buttons.

Middle School Students are encouraged to bring a 1–Gig flash drive to save work.
