S.L.A.C. Make-Up Exam & Online Exam Proctoring Policy

The Student Learning Assistance Center is here to assist the students of San Antonio College in making up exams and offering online exam proctoring.  The proctoring services of the S.L.A.C. are intended for the online student community.

The S.L.A.C. will not proctor regular lecture course exams for the entire class.  We will proctor make up exams for those select students at the approval of the instructor.   The S.L.A.C. will proctor exams between the following hours, during the Fall and Spring semesters: Mondays-Thursdays from 8am-7:30pm, Fridays from 8am-3:30pm and Saturdays from 10am-4:30pm.  During the Summer Session: Mondays-Thursdays from 8am-6:30pm.  This means that a student must be completed by the end time.

For example: If a student arrives at 6:41pm on a Tuesday evening (we stop proctoring at 7:30pm) and you have given them two hours to complete the exam, they must be finished by 7:30pm; giving them less than an hour to complete.  During Summer, we stop proctoring at 6:30pm.  This means that we pick up exams at this time.

There will be no exam proctoring when a semester is not in session.

How to get an exam proctored:  Please submit a completed S.L.A.C. Proctoring Exam Form along with a list of students needing to be proctored to the Student Learning Assistance Center, Moody Learning Center, Suite 707; e-mail it to us at sac-slac@alamo.edu or fax it to us at (210) 486-9261.  FYI… We do not recommend using the campus mail service, please either drop off the exams to us, e-mail or fax it to us.

*If you have a printed exam that requires more than two student copies, please make an adequate amount of copies and drop them off at the S.L.A.C.  If only two students are taking the exam, please e-mail us and we will make the two copies.

You may find the SLAC Proctoring Exam Form on our website or on our Share Point site.

How S.L.A.C. Proctors Exams

The Student Learning Assistance Center has a dedicated proctoring room for proctoring exams; however the space is limited to maximum of 38 students at at any given time.  Please inform your students not to wait until the very last minute to take their test or they may not get to take the test if the room is full. All exams are secured in a locked file cabinet.  This cabinet is locked every day.

When a student first arrives at S.L.A.C., he/she must sign in at the front desk and know their instructors name, their course and section number, and the name of the exam name they are wishing to take.  If a student does not know this information, they are asked to look that information up in ACES.  Once the student has the information, we proceed with asking for a college ID or any official government issued ID (i.e., Driver’s License, Military ID, Passport, etc.).  We do not accept credit cards with pictures on them.  Depending on the amount of students needing proctoring, there may be a waiting period.  Students may be asked to sign in on a sheet of paper to keep track of who is next.

We sign the student into our Proctoring Exam database, all personal belongs not allowed during the test are placed inside a locker, and the student is taken into the at a proctoring room.  We have a running account of who is currently taking an exam.  Once a student’s time is up, our database will notify an employee and we will take up that exam.  Once the exam is completed, the student will return to the front service desk to have an employee open up the locker so they can retrieve their belongs.  The completed exams are filed accordingly to the instructions provided to us by the instructor.

Please assist us in providing excellent services to our students by using the updated version and completely filling out the Proctoring Exam Form.  These forms are located on our website and Share Point site.
