Texas LEARNS and San Antonio ISD discuss the implementation of Integrating Career Awareness Curriculum Guide into ABE classrooms and how Texas plans to introduce the ICA to all adult education programs in Texas. Presenters will discuss how ICA is used in short‐term, intensive bridge classes to move students from adult education to college classes and its success in such settings. ICA is a career awareness curriculum that assists students in exploring career options, finding out which of those options are available in the community and beginning to plan career paths to their selected career.

Participants will have a glimpse at this student centered curriculum along with actual student portfolios. The presentation will be introducing the “basics” that instructors must have to help guide their students through the maze of post-secondary admissions including step-by-step handouts that are reproducible. Participants will also have a chance to view actual developmental post-secondary curriculum that is student centered and designed to help adult education students develop goals while they simultaneously develop writing and research skills.
