Dr. Schreyach approaches his study of twentieth-century Abstract Expressionist artists such as Jackson Pollock and Barnett Newman, through the lens of theoretical models developed from other fields, including philosophy, psychology, sociology and literary criticism.  As a result, he attempts to understand how the visual effects of their work is conveyed technically, operate culturally and can be interpreted philosophically
