Gabe Vidaurri
Gabe is the Instructional Skills Specialist for Mathematics in the NVC Advocacy Center. He
holds a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Texas at San Antonio
and an A.S. in General Studies from Northwest Vista College. He has worked as a tutor in the math labs for over 3 years. In
the past, he hosted meetings for the tutors in the lab to learn
mathematical proofs and propositional logic, concepts from higher

Lake holds an M.B.A. from the University of Nebraska and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri. He
has 3 years experience working as an engineer, 27 years experience
working as a USAF Officer, 15 years experience working as a program
manager at the Corporation of America, and has been an adjunct math
instructor for 4 years.

Amorette Rockenbaugh
Amorette holds a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Texas at
El Paso and an A.A. in General Studies from the University of Maryland
University College. She holds a CRLA Level III Master Tutor certification from El Paso Community College. Her interests include reading, writing, and traveling. She enjoys reading travel memoirs about people overcoming obstacles and learning lessons from life experiences. She has climbed Mt. Fuji.

Paula Englebert
Paula holds an A.A. in Teaching from Northwest Vista College circa 2012. She is currently pursuing a B.S. in Mathematics with a minor in Teaching at Texas A&M University San Antonio. She is originally from England, but calls San Antonio her home for now. She has three children, in middle school and higher. She returned full-time to education in 2010 and really enjoys working in the math labs. Her goal is to become math teacher.

Cardi is currently pursuing an A.S. in Mathematics at Northwest Vista College and is expected to graduate December 2012. She was born and raised in San Antonio.

Joel E. Eichenholz
Joel holds an M.S. in Counseling and Guidance from Troy State
University, a B.S. in Mathematics and Education from the City College of
New York, and an A.A. in Liberal Arts from New York City Community
College. He has taught for Northside Independent School District for 32 years and has taught at NVC for the last 3 years.

Matthew Brown
Matthew is currently pursuing a B.A. in Mathematics and Music from Trinity University. He was born and raised in San Antonio and has always been interested in math. Recently,
he realized that he wished to teach math, possibly at the high school
level, and he is currently in pursuit of that goal.

Kenneth Handy
Kenneth holds an A.S. in Computer Science and an A.A. in General Studies from Northwest Vista College. He is currently pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science from St. Mary’s University. His
interests include artificial intelligence, computer graphics, game
development, music, cinema, independent study, gaming, reading,
education, mathematics, programming, creative writing, and character
development. His goals include receiving an M.S.C.S. from UT Austin and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon.

Alyssa Martin
Alyssa is currently pursuing an A.A. in Music Technology from Northwest Vista College. She will be attending either UTSA or UIW in the spring of 2013 majoring in Economics with minors in Music and Marketing. She is president of Project DEM at NVC and also plays piano and viola.

Jesse holds an M.A. in Management from Webster University, a B.A.A.S.
in Education from Texas State University, and an A.S. in Management from
San Antonio College. He enjoys teaching and playing basketball.

Cristina is a recent transfer into the University of Texas at San Antonio from Northwest Vista College. She is pursuing her undergraduate degree in Engineering at UTSA. She is only 20 years old and has been a math tutor for over a year.

Michael Gurwitz
Michael holds a J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law, a
LL.M. in Tax Law from New York University School of Law, a B.S. in
Mathematics from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and completed
24 hours of graduate credit in mathematics at UTSA. He is an experienced math teacher and tutor with a passion for the subject. He is a patient instructor with an established ability to make all levels of math more understandable.

Travis is a recent transfer into the University of Texas at San Antonio from Northwest Vista College. He is pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at UTSA. He has been tutoring for over 2 years. The highest math class he took was Differential Equations.

David Marotta
David holds an A.S. in Engineering from San Antonio College. He is currently pursuing his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is also a full-time employee for Bexar County Public Works as the Division Safety and Training Coordinator. He is the V.P. of Golden Key International Honor Society and is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa. He is on the scholarship committee for TX Public Works Association. He is an Operation Enduring Freedom Veteran in addition to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Mary holds a graduate degree in Computer Education from Barry College and a B.S. in Science Teaching from UNC – Chapel Hill. She
is currently pursuing graduate studies in Mathematics at the University
of Texas at San Antonio and has a renewed math certification 2005/06. She was born in North Carolina. She has taught high school physics in Miami for 10 years. She has also taught at John Jay High School and Cornerstone Christian School. She has 4 years’ experience in NISD’s Homebound program. |

Anthony Herrera
Anthony is currently a student at Northwest Vista College pursuing a pre-pharmacy track of courses. He has experience up to Calculus I and will be finished with his classes at NVC by the fall of 2013.

Jeff Edwards
Jeff holds a Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of
Northern Colorado and an A.S. in Home Building from St. Philip’s
College. He is currently pursuing an M.S. in Applied Statistics from the University of the Incarnate Word. He will complete his degree in the fall of 2013. He retired from the Air Force in 1999. When he returned to school, he noticed the weaknesses in math skills of other students and believed he could help. He taught public school math for 3 years and decided he needed to deal with adults. He has been tutoring at NVC for 7 years (off and on). He hopes to teach part time at NVC.

Daniela Magnone
Daniela is currently pursuing an A.S. in Mathematics from Northwest Vista College. She has been a tutor at Northwest Vista for over a year. She has completed 97 college credit hours, including 10 math classes. She has a 4.0 GPA. Currently, she is taking Calculus III and this will be her final semester at Northwest Vista. She was the student of the month for the Alamo College District last May and was nominated by her math teacher, Mat Roy.

Rod is a recent transfer from Northwest Vista into UTSA’s College of Engineering. He is pursuing his undergraduate degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering.

Sibel Lacquement
Sibel received her BSN degree from nursing college in Izmir, Turkiye. She
is currently a student at Northwest Vista as a M.I.M. student with
plans to transfer to Texas A&M – San Antonio to complete a B.S. in
Mathematics. She has been a math instructor for Northside Independent School District’s Adult Education program for 5 years. She has worked at the Department of Defense Schools (DODS) as a substitute teacher.

Hong holds a B.A. in Accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She graduated cum laude. She has a strong passion in math and math education. Currently,
her specialty is in the topic of all developmental math, college
algebra, pre-calculus, calculus I, and business calculus.

Mohamed Meddouri
Mohammed holds an M.S. in Inorganic Chemistry from France and an M.S. in Material Science from Algeria. He
is currently pursuing an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the
University of Texas at San Antonio with plans to graduate in December of
2013. Afterwards he will be starting a Ph.D. program. He would like to have an academic and industrial career with a lot of research and creation. He likes reading, sports, cooking, and taking care of his two kids.

Rob holds a B.S. in Meteorology from the University of the Incarnate
Word and an A.A. and A.S. in Science from Northwest Vista College. He
also attended Greenville Technical College. He is currently taking
computer science courses at NVC.
