The San Antonio College Early Childhood Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. In the spring of 1986 the Center became the first NAEYC accredited center in San Antonio and has continually been accredited. We are also a Texas School Ready participant and a Texas Rising Star Provider- 4 Star Level with the City of San Antonio.

NAEYC accredited programs have demonstrated a commitment to providing a high quality program for young children and their families. Adults involved in the child's life are viewed as partners in the educational process and are encouraged to actively participate in decisions affecting the care and education of the child. The program values diversity and offers an inclusive setting for children.

San Antonio College Early Childhood Center is an educational lab facility. Students, under the close supervision of faculty and child development specialists, work with the children as they train to be early childhood educators. In addition to providing this training, the Center program is designed to provide a model quality child care and education facility for the community.

The Center is open to children, ages 12 months to 4 years, of qualified San Antonio College students. The program philosophy focuses on the unique ways in which young children learn. It strives to meet the needs of the "whole child" including the areas of social, emotional, physical, cognitive, creative and language development. The curriculum emphasizes developmentally appropriate learning experiences through play. We use Teaching Strategies and Teaching Strategies Gold for lesson plans and the children’s assessments of developmental growth.
