TIER, the Texas Institute for Educational Robotics, a program of Northwest Vista College, was founded to promote robotics as a tool to motivate students to study Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields throughout their education, and to pursue STEM related careers.
TIER accomplishes its mission by providing workshops, competitions, special events and support to educators, schools and community groups participating in youth robotics programs.
Via the SpaceTEAMS Robotics program, the program from which TIER was established, SpaceTEAMS summer camps reached more than 225 students and 36 classroom teachers in the first two years of operation. The TIER program will more than double that number in its first year of operation and is expanding with new programming.
