The San Antonio College Assessment/Testing Center provides testing services for academic course placement to all prospective / new students; any additional testing services that might be needed for continuing, transfer students and other community testing needs. Our testing services must meet the mandates of a State Legislative program called “the Texas Success Initiatives” (TSI) whose objective is to improve student’s success in college. San Antonio College has an open door admissions policy, The primary purpose of testing for course placement is to determine if the student’s academic preparedness is or is not at the college level as they relate to the three assessment areas of English, Reading and Math. Developmental classes (non–college credit) are available in the three assessment areas for those students who require remediation. All students who plan to enroll at SAC will need to complete a free online admissions application called ApplyTexas and their website is www.applytexas.org. Once the student information is downloaded into our system from ApplyTexas, then the student will be issued an I.D. number called a Banner number. Students must have a Banner number prior to taking the Accuplacer tests.
