The Alamo Colleges offers enrollment to all prospective international students seeking to study in the United States. The international student services department at Northwest Vista College, Palo Alto College, St. Philip’s College, and San Antonio College accept all international applications and transcripts in order to begin processing the Form I-20. A combined total of more than 450 international students from approximately 70 countries are hosted by the Alamo Colleges annually. All students receive course instruction in the arts and sciences that transfer to either a four-year college or university or to the workforce. 

Admissions Requirements

 Students applying for admission to any of the Alamo Colleges must provide an official transcript from an high school or college. International students who attended a high school or college in a country other than the United States must have a transcript translated and evaluated by an organization that meets the quality guidelines endorsed by the National Association of Credential Services (NACES).  Students need only one application for all of the Alamo Colleges. Application deadlines are listed on this page.

The Alamo Colleges offer F-1 visas to all prospective international students seeking to study in the United States. The international student services department at Northwest Vista College, Palo Alto College, St. Philip’s College, and San Antonio College accept all I-20 applications in order to begin processing your visa application. An application for admission to the Alamo Colleges must first be completed online through ApplyTexas. If you have not decided which college you would like to attend, you may submit your I-20 application to the district international student services office. Students applying for admission to any of the Alamo Colleges must provide an official transcript from a high school or college. International students who attended a high school or college in a country other than the United States must have a transcript translated and evaluated by an organization that meets the quality guidelines endorsed by the National Association of Credential Services (NACES). The instructions below assist you with completing the necessary applications to become a student at the Alamo Colleges.

 Application Deadline 

New International Students:

  • Deadline for fall semester (August): May 15
  • Deadline for spring semester (January): October 15

International Transfer Students

  • Deadline for fall Semester (August): July 1
  • Deadline for spring Semester (January): December 1
 
 
 

How to Apply as a Future International Student

1. Admission Application for Alamo Colleges
  • Decide which of the Alamo Colleges you want to attend
  • Log on to ApplyTexas 
  • Complete the online application  to one of the five Alamo Colleges
  • Write your ApplyTexas application number on your I-20 application
 
 
2. Complete the I-20 application
 
 
3. Verify your ability to attend college for at least one academic year (see Financial Resources for details)
  • Provide an official bank letter less than 60 days old
    • Estimated cost of attendance per student per academic year is $22,000
     
  • Verify available funds for dependents
    • Estimated cost per dependent is $5,000
     
  • Do not include bank statements
  • Include your Affidavit of Support
  • Include the Dependent Form, if applicable
  • Provide a copy of your dependent’s passport name page, if applicable
 
 
4. Submit your most recent official academic transcript from high school
 
 
5. Submit TOEFL or IELTS scores
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores are required for enrollment
  • ESL students do not required TOEFL or IELTS scores
 
 
6. Attach a copy of your passport and a passport-size photo to your application
 
7. Read and sign the statement of understanding that is included in the I-20 application packet
 
8. Enclose a $100 non-refundable processing fee
  • Funds must be in U.S. dollars only
  • Attach cashier’s check or money orders to your application 
  • For credit card payments, visit the Virtual Business Office
    • Alamo Colleges Market Place (select “click here”)
    • Select Alamo Colleges International Services
    • Select International Application Fee
    • Print receipt and attach copy  
     
 
 
9. Mail the completed and signed application and all required documents to:

How to Apply as an International Transfer Student

1. Admission Application for Alamo Colleges
  • Decide which of the Alamo Colleges you want to attend

Tips on Submiting Your Application

 To ensure proper and efficient processing of your application, keep these tips in mind: 

  1. Use your full legal name on all documents. When completing your I-20 application, it is extremely important that you use your full legal name, exactly as it appears on your passport. We will not be able to issue the necessary immigration documents if the name on your application is different than the name on your passport. Write your full legal name and date of birth on all of your application materials. This includes your application fee, test scores, financial verification form, and academic records.
     
  2. Do not list a post office box as your permanent foreign address. In order for us to issue a Form I-20, the permanent home address listed on your admissions application must be a physical address. 

     
  3. Submit all materials together. This includes your I-20 application, your application fee or receipt of online payment, academic records, financial verification form, and financial documentation. Your official TOEFL scores must be sent directly from the testing agency. However, to assist in matching your official scores with your application, please submit a copy of your test score report with your application materials.

     
  4. Avoid submitting unnecessary materials. The items listed in the application checklist section are all we need to review your application. Please do not send other supporting documents or items such as photographs, recordings, writing samples or awards and commendations. Relevant activities, talents or awards may be included in your personal statement.

     
  5. Use the Correct Mailing Address. Send all materials to:

  6. Wait for your application acknowledgement letter. Once we receive your application, an acknowledgement letter will be sent to the e-mail address on your I-20 application. Be sure to include your email address on the application form.
