Advisory against Misleading GED Claims   

Please be advised that the GED® Certificate cannot be  earned nor obtained via the Internet or through correspondence programs. The Tests of General Educational Development (GED Tests)--developed by the General Educational Development Testing Service of the American Council on Education (GED Testing Service) require extensive preparation and the demonstration of a high level of high school knowledge and academic skills. The GED Tests are administered in Texas only at Official GED Testing Centers under the direction of the Texas Education Agency (TEA) GED Unit. Any other high school equivalency certificates not issued by TEA or another jurisdictional GED testing authority may be of dubious value and may not be accepted by employers, colleges and universities, or the military.  

San Antonio College is an official GED testing center.

Policies and Schedule 



$135.00 for all five tests and $33.75 for each retest.  Examinee’s who started but did not complete testing prior to December 31, 2013 will also be assessed a $135.00 fee for all exams. 

Required items for all examinees to bring the day of testing:     

1. Government issued identification (Texas DL/Texas ID, Military ID, Passport/Visa, or Consulate ID)

2.  Proof of Texas Residency (If you do not have a Texas ID/Dl)

3.  Be 18 years of age or older (for age exceptions visit TEA eligibility requirements)

On testing days, please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment.

Scoring 2013 


PASSING SCORE:               

Examinees must have a total score of 2250, with no score below 410. 


For test results for exams taken prior to June 1, 1994, examinee’s must complete and sign a Test Release Form or letter requesting the release of scores before test records will be released to any individual, agency, or organization other than the following: ACCD personnel, accrediting agencies, and other partied with judicial order or subpoena.  TEST RESULTS WILL NOT BE RELEASED OVER THE TELEPHONE!   The Texas Education Agency has a new on-line service that allows the purchase of the “Official GED Test Results” from their website located at 


Retest Policy 


 If you fail an exam, you can retake it two times at a reduced price within twelve months of the original failed exam.  After the first three attempts, you will have to wait an additional 60 days between retake.



 GED-CBT test takers seeking accommodations for a documented disability may request it through the registration process at
