What is Veterans Affairs?

The primary function is to support veterans in their time after service by providing certain education benefits and support. 

Who does Veterans Affairs serve?

Veteran students and their dependents.

What services are available?

The San Antonio College Office of Veterans Affairs provides the services, advisement, counseling and certifications to all beneficiaries of Education Programs administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA). 
 

How does it benefit the student?

The San Antonio College Office of Veterans Affairs helps ease the transition from military to student life.
  • Monday - Thursday: 8 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • Counselors and advisers available from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Friday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. with limited services 
  • Weekends and holidays - Closed 
 

Application Process

Students using DVA educational benefits must see a staff member in the San Antonio College Office of Veterans Affairs in order to be certified for the Department of Veterans Affairs benefits. The following must be done:

1. Consult the personnel in the San Antonio College Office of Veterans' Affairs.
2. Establish a VA folder with all the documentation required.
  • Initial DVA application or a request for transfer form.
  • All transcript(s) of prior credits.
  • Test scores (if applicable).
  • Dependent(s) documentation is required.
  • Complete a VA 2-ply form.
  • Sign a statement of responsibilities.
3. See a counselor/department chairperson to get course approval.
4. Report any changes of enrollment each semester.
5. Maintain a 2.0 grade-point average (GPA).
