Working for the National Park Service allows you to serve America and work as a steward of over 390 National Park Service units. Working in the parks gives you the opportunity to live and work in beautiful and scenic places while doing interesting and meaningful work.

ProRanger Benefits

Prepare you for a Career – ProRanger is designed to tell you what skills and abilities you will need to get the job. Then we provide you the training and experience to help you succeed.

Paid Summer Internships – It is crucial that you get hands on experience. ProRanger provides you with a paid summer internship with the NPS. We find the job, the supervisor, the mentor and even set up housing. Typically, interns start at the GS-4 level (approximately $12 per hour) and work full time for 40 weeks.

Scholarships – During the second year there will be scholarship available for relevant training. This is training that will benefit you and the NPS such as medical training and wildland fire fighting.

Specific Experience and Training – Everything that you do in ProRanger is designed to help you build your resume and prepare you for your law enforcement career. We are investing in you to prepare you for the challenges of the job.

Law Enforcement Academy – Once you complete your second internship ProRanger will pay for your Law Enforcement Academy. Once you complete the Academy you will receive a Type II Law Enforcement Commission and be ready to become a NPS Law Enforcement Ranger.

Conversion to Full Time NPS Job – When you complete the all of the requirements of the program you will be eligible for conversion into a full time position. The Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) allows ProRanger to invest training and support to you and allows you to directly apply your academic degree to your job.
