La Prensa Foundation Inspirational Student of the Month Award

Daniela Magnone
Major: Math
GPA: 3.96
Northwest Vista College

Daniela Magnone is the recipient of the May 2012 La Prensa Foundation Inspirational Student of the Month award and will receive $500 funded by La Prensa Foundation founded by Amelia and Tino Duran.

Daniela was born in San Antonio, in 1988. She earned her GED in 2008 so that she could pursue a higher education. As a first generation college student, Daniela carries a 3.96 GPA at Northwest Vista College, and is the proud single mother of two young girls, Annabelle and Celia.

“Daniela is exceptionally qualified for the award because of her enthusiasm for learning, her diligent work ethic, and her strong commitment to academic excellence.” said Jaideep Mathew Roy.

Daniela was honored and moved that her professor, for whom she credits with her success, also nominated her for this distinguished award in the company of multiple staff members at NVC.

Daniela exemplifies synergy by supporting and mentoring her classmates. She has often created exam reviews and chapter summaries for students who are struggling, and she also works as a tutor in the math labs. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and volunteers at numerous events for the Community Development programs.

She will complete an associate’s degree in the fall and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics when she transfers to a university. She hopes to be accepted into a competitive graduate program in the future. Given her passion for education and helping others, Daniela is sure to achieve her goals.

Daniela Magnone truly exemplifies the kind of student Northwest Vista College is proud to honor with the Alamo Colleges Student of the Month.

Please help me in congratulating Daniela Magnone
as the Alamo Colleges – La Prensa Foundation Inspirational Student of the Month Award for May 2012
