New Student Orientation offered throughout summer

Palo Alto College is offering its fourth annual New Student Orientation program through Thursday, Aug. 2, for new students enrolling in the Fall 2012 semester. The program gives students an opportunity to experience college life, receive a campus tour, and register for classes at Palo Alto College.

The on-campus orientation program provides multiple sessions available from May to August. Throughout these sessions, students will meet with key Palo Alto College faculty and staff, as well as receive information regarding various services and resources available to all students.

To register for the sessions, students must have completed an ApplyTexas.org application and taken their placement tests. Students may visit the First Time in College link at alamo.edu/pac or call 486-3100. Sessions are offered Monday through Saturday, and parents are welcome to attend. Palo Alto College implemented the first New Student Orientation in Summer 2009 to maximize student success and ultimately increase student retention. Orientation is part of an increased focus by the Alamo Colleges to ensure student success. Since the implementation of the orientation program, retention has continuously increased among full-time and part-time students, and overall enrollment has increased by double-digit percentage since Summer 2010.
