Donors and Community Partners Recognized for their Contribution to NLC
As part of Northeast Lakeview College’s Fall 2012 Convocation, the College community recognized three donors for their contribution to Northeast Lakeview College during the 2011-2012 academic year.
The City of Universal City Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) was recognized for its $15,000 donation to fund a portion of a College monument sign at the Kitty Hawk Rd. entrance of Northeast Lakeview College.
Rackspace Hosting was recognized for its contribution to the Summer Robotics Program. This year, they donated $50,000 to the Alamo Colleges to be used by all five colleges to support Robotics. NLC received $10,000 of these funds for the purchase of equipment and to provide scholarships to elementary school-aged children to attend the NLC 2012 Summer Robotics Camp. In 2010, Rackspace donated $1,000 in scholarships to NLC during the inaugural year of this camp.
The Northeast Partnership for Economic Development (NEP) was recognized for its $3,250 to NLC that was used to fund five Robotics scholarships for middle school children to participate in the Summer Robotics Camp at NLC and four academic scholarships for Northeast Lakeview College students. The NEP has provided $4,000 in scholarships for the Robotics Camp since 2010 and this year, and the funding this year was in memory of the late Hal Baldwin, former mayor of Schertz, TX. The (NEP), formed in the mid 1990’s to promote economic growth and quality of life in the northeast San Antonio area.
