Almost Half A Million Awarded in College Scholarships

Northeast Lakeview College awarded $456,250 in college scholarships to more than 175 students for the 2012-2013 academic year at a Scholarship Award Ceremony on August 23.

Scholarships were awarded to both full and part-time students based on merit, major, financial need, and service. Some students were awarded up to $10K for the 2012-2013 academic year. Scholarship funds are raised through employee and community donations as well as grant funds.

The students were selected through the college’s scholarship application process. All completed applications are screened, reviewed, and scored by a group of college and community judges. As the newest of the five Alamo Colleges, Northeast Lakeview College was officially established in 2007 and this is the third year the college has utilized a formal scholarship process. NLC continues to increase the amount of scholarship dollars awarded, dispersing only $75K in 2010, $200K in 2011, and more than $450K this year.

For more information about Northeast Lakeview College and for a list of scholarships, visit the Scholarship website. The scholarship application deadline for the 2013 academic year is April 15, 2013.
