Hispanic Heritage Month at NVC

 

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at NVC


Sept. 16 - El Grito Celebration contest at the Cypress patio at 11 a.m. A voter registration drive will take place at the same time as guests jam to the music of Eva Ybarra "La Reina del Acordeon."

Sept. 24 - "Harvest of Empire" (Part 1) documentary will be shown from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in Cypress, room 121. A discussion will take place afterwards with Sandra Garza and MAS students.

Sept. 26 - "Harvest of Empire" (Part 2) documentary will be shown from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in Cypress, room 121. A discussion will take place afterwards with Sandra Garza and MAS students.

Oct. 3 - "Bless Me Ultima" film will be shown at 2 p.m. in the Huisache Hall banquet room. A discussion will take place with Anival Gonzalez and MAS students.

Oct. 9 - "A Class Apart" documentary will be shown in Cypress/Lago Vista at 2 p.m. A critique and Q&A of the film by Carlos Acosta will take place afterwards.

Oct. 15 - NVC Poetry Slam! at Huisache Hall, room 113 at 2 p.m. Prizes are sponsored by Student Activities. Contact cgonzalez-stout@alamo.edu for details to sign-up.

Oct. 14 - Gus Garcia Hero Shout Out! Featuring Tony Diaz of "El Librotraficante." at 11 a.m. at the Palmetto Theater.

Oct. 20 - "Marisol" by Jose Rivera presented by the NVC Drama department.

Other activities: Create a Pinterest board, view book display and participate in a scavenger hunt in the library throughout Hispanic Heritage Month!
