Nano Students Win National Award

Nano Students Jay and Chris 224 pxNano Students Win National Award

The National Science Foundation recently selected two Northwest Vista Nanotechnology students as winners of the 2013 Student Award of Excellence.

Chris Salinas and Jay Giuliani will be attending the Advanced Technological Education Principal Investigators conference on Oct. 23-25 to receive the award in Washington, D.C.

NSF will formally recognize both Chris and Jay for their achievements in nanotechnology. Overall, only 50 students were chosen in the U.S. Only 50 students in the nation were selected for this award.

Meanwhile, both Chris and Jay will display posters representing NVC at the conference showcase session. Additionally, they are invited to attend a complimentary tour of the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI) in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 24.

While visiting JCVI, students will have the opportunity to see cutting-edge laboratories studying genomics in all areas of life. Students will also visit laboratories involved in the synthetic cell break-through and the human microbiome.
