Acclaimed Sculptor Showcases Work at NVC
Sculptor and Olympian Peter Schifrin Visits NVC March 17-18

NVC will host acclaimed sculptor and Olympian Peter Schifrin March 17-18, whose large-scale sculptors in bronze are displayed in private and public commissions from coast to coast, including an art exhibit at the 2012 London Olympics.

In 1984, Schifrin was a member of the U.S. men’s fencing team. For a little more than a decade, Schifrin was director of the School of Fine Art Sculpture at the Academy of Art University, where he is currently a faculty member. Schifrin is a member of the International Sculpture Center and was voted into the National Sculpture Society as a ‘Fellow’ in 2011.

He will be the visiting artist at NVC's Palmetto Center for the Arts from March 17-18, 2014. There will be an artist talk, a reception and showcase of Schifrin’s work on March 18 from 7-8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The artist’s sculpture will remain on display at the Palmetto Center for the Arts until April 25, 2014.

Here’s a snapshot of some his commissioned pieces:

  • Two, 22-foot bronze monuments, Confluence and Skyward at Post and Mason streets in San Francisco’s premier Union Square District, commissioned by the Academy of Art University.
  • 18-foot bronze, Full Sky for an award-winning home in New York
