SAC Student Honored as Student of the Month

La Prensa Foundation Student of the Month went to Delia Arellano for the month of February. Arellano is a Public Administration major at SAC with a 4.0 GPA. She participates in the SAC Honors Academy and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa – an international academic honor society. She has also been named a SAC Distinguished Graduate for her department.  

She is pursuing a career in Public Administration to eventually work for the City of San Antonio or the Federal government in the area of Human Resources Management. She will be working toward her bachelor’s degree and would like to continue on to a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Her desire is to become a manager in the public sector to assist individuals about their job opportunities and professional development without the fear of discrimination.  

Some of her volunteer activities include assisting the Boy Scouts of America Troop 307, Castle Hills Elementary as a parent volunteer, and the Food Pantry Mobile Activities through the San Antonio College PTK Beta Nu food distribution efforts. Arellano will receive an award of $500 from the La Prensa Foundation. 

Arellano is married with two children and strives to be a role model to them and others to show that hard work contributes to academic success and nothing is impossible when you are committed to an academic and professional goal.
