Speech Team Wins Awards

The SAC Speech Team recently traveled to Killeen to attend the Texas Community College Forensics Association State Tournament.

As a team, the SAC Speech Team placed second in Individual Events Sweepstakes and second in Overall Sweepstakes. Terran Duhon earned second top speaker of the tournament.

Kirk Cox placed first place in Programmed Oral Interpretation, second place in Poetry Interpretation and first place in Dramatic Duo Interpretation with Duhon. Nathan Prince placed fifth place in Prose Interpretation and in Dramatic Interpretation. Anzlie Lowak placed second in Persuasive Speaking and fourth place in Informative Speaking.

Terran Duhon placed first in Prose Interpretation, second in Program Oral Interpretation and Dramatic Interpretation, third place in Poetry Interpretation and first place in Dramatic Duo Interpretation with Cox.

This month, the team will travel to a Phi Rho Pi Regional tournament in Tyler to compete. In April, the team will leave to compete in the national tournament in Denver. Duhon will also attend the AFA (four-year college) national tournament.

The team will showcase their presentations, “Night Before Nationals,” at the MCCH Theatre next month, April 2, at 7 p.m.
