PAC gears up for PACfest 2014

On Thursday, April 24, Palo Alto College will host its annual official Fiesta ® San Antonio event, PACfest! This year’s event will include live entertainment, family-friendly festivities, a game zone, the award-winning social media alley, and Latin Grammy award-winning musician Michael Salgado. PACfest 2014 will also premiere the official Fiesta Grilldown Carne Asada Contest, a cookoff-style team event with a panel of guest judges to select the winning fare.

Other entertainment includes Sunny Sauceda, Chris Boss & The Fuss, Third Root, Space Rockers, Mariachi Palomino, Conjunto Palo Alto, PACs Got Talent winners, and more. Mistress of ceremonies is Erica Gonzaba, former Miss Fiesta 2005 and contestant on the Puerto Rican singing talent competition, Objectivo Fama.

PACfest’s Fiesta Grilldown Carne Asada Contest, sponsored by H-E-B, will be open to community members looking to be the Fiesta Grilldown Champion. Details on how to enter will be available at alamo.edu/pac/pacfest with entries accepted from April 1 – 10 through our Facebook page. Guest judges for the contest will include District 4 Councilman Rey Saldaña, KXTN-FM radio DJ Jonny Ramirez from “Jonny Ramirez in the Morning”, and former Rey Feo Fernando Reyes.

PACfest 2014 is presented by AARP – San Antonio. Other sponsors include Gonzaba Medical Group, Wells Fargo, Generations FCU, Schneider Electric, and the Fiesta San Antonio Commission, Inc.

PACfest is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. Parking is $5 all day for vehicles without a current Alamo Colleges parking permit.
