Summer Theatre Camp Registration is Open
Attention all high school theatre enthusiasts!
Join San Antonio College this summer for one
full week of acting, improv, movement, tech, rehearsal and a performance.

students entering grades 9-12. Students may choose to focus on acting or
Camp cost is $80. A deposit of $40 is due by
June 30, with the total amount due by July 13.
Only 50 students (40 acting, 10 technical) will
be able to sign up for the camp. So sign up before it’s too late!
All acting students involved in the camp will be
cast in a play. Technical students will serve as stage managers as well as
experience lighting and sound board design.
Theatre faculty from San Antonio College and
invited professionals will serve as instructors for the camp. Two instructors
are Paula Rodriguez and Ronald Watson.
Rodriguez is a Theatre Instructor for the Fine
Arts Department as San Antonio College. She is also the Theatre Program
Coordinator. She previously taught at MacAuthur High School and Southlake
Carroll Senior High. She has directed/co-directed six shows to the UIL State
One-Act Play State Meet. Her students won the State 3A OAP Championship in 1995
and she was awarded Educator Theatre of the Year–Junior College level in 2011.
Watson, serving as the camp co-coordinator, has
served as a secondary theatre educator for eleven years. He has participated in
the One-Act Play contest at every level. Watson is the Director of the UIL
State Theatrical Design Contest.
Camp starts with
registration, orientation and auditions at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 13.
rehearsals begin July 14-18 and consist of warm-ups, acting and movement, play
rehearsal and lunch. Wednesday, July 18 will be rehearsal time. A tech/dress
rehearsal will take place the morning of Saturday, July 19 before the
performance at 2 p.m. in the McAllister Auditorium. Drama Scholarships will be
presented after the performance.
Camp hours are from
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, except July 13, which will run 2-5 p.m.
