Alamo Colleges Names Two New College Presidents

The Alamo Colleges Board of Trustees approved Dr. Robert Vela as president of San Antonio College and Dr. Ric Neal Baser as president of Northwest Vista College. They were named to their positions as Dr. Robert Zeigler of San Antonio College and Dr. Jaqueline Claunch of Northwest Vista College will retire this summer.

Mr. Jim Rindfuss, Chairman of the Alamo Colleges Board said he was “pleased to approve two leadership administrators who will continue to focus on improvement at the Alamo Colleges.”

Dr. Vela is currently Vice President for Student and Academic Success at Alamo Colleges - San Antonio College. He has also served as Vice President of Student Success, Dean of Student Development at San Jacinto College - North Campus, and as Coordinator/Counselor at Coastal Bend College.

Dr. Baser is currently Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at Tulsa Community College, Tulsa, Oklahoma. His previous experience also includes serving as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Rose State College and Seminole State College, Instructor at The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University, and Director of School Relations and Student Activities at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

Dr. Leslie said, “The Board and I are thankful for the leadership and dedicated service to student success of President Bob Zeigler and President Jackie Claunch. I am pleased to appoint two individuals so strongly recommended by the search committees.”
