Rep Cuellar Speaks at Scholarship Ceremony

Northeast Lakeview College  hosted its annual Scholarship Award Ceremony on August 21 to recognize the almost 200 students receiving scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Congressman Cuellar (TX-28) delivered the keynote address and spoke on his own higher education experiences and congratulated the students for their achievements.

“Education is the great equalizer that opens the doors to success and prosperity,” said Congressman Cuellar. “In this age of international competitiveness, our country’s future will rely on educated citizens to compete in a global economy.  I congratulate the bright students at Northeast Lakeview College who have achieved so much at a young age and encourage them to continue on their path of higher education.  I thank the College for its commitment to guiding and aiding the students in our communities.”

This year, the College awarded almost $300K in scholarships to its students, which adds to the more than $1.5M awarded to students since Northeast Lakeview College was established in 2007.
