Debbie C. Hamilton, Ph.D.
Dr. Debbie C. Hamilton serves as Vice President for Student Success of the Alamo Community College District's (ACCD) Northeast Lakeview College. As Vice President of Student Success, Dr. Hamilton is the chief student affairs officer of the college and is responsible for admissions, advising, assessment center, business office, financial aid, and student discipline. Dr. Hamilton has been with the Alamo Community College District for 14 years and has twenty-nine years of experience in two-year public, four-year public and private institutions of higher education. Her experience includes admissions, recruitment and retention, academic advising, facilities management, and budgeting.
Prior to coming to ACCD, Hamilton served as the Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions and First Year Advisement at Our Lady of the Lake University. She also served as the off-site coordinator for the Northeast Learning Center for St. Philip's College, Executive Director, and Provost of the ACCD Northeast Campus and Vice President of Student and Administrative Services at Northeast Lakeview before transitioning to her current position as Vice President of Student Success.
Dr. Hamilton was a 2010 NISOD Excellence Award recipient in Leadership. The National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD), a consortium of over 700 community colleges and universities worldwide, has a 31-year history of recognizing faculty, staff, and administrators for outstanding contributions to teaching, leadership, and learning. Also in 2010, Dr. Hamilton received the Alamo Colleges Chancellor's Administrative Leadership Award. With this honor, Dr. Hamilton was nominated for the Texas Association Community Colleges (TACC) Carl "Cheesie" Nelson Award and represented the Alamo Colleges in the competition for this award.
Dr. Hamilton is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society and San Antonio Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Member of NACADA and San Antonio Branch NAACP. Dr. Hamilton's advanced academic achievements include a Master's degree in Social Work, a MBA in Executive Management, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration.
