Welcome to the Northeast Lakeview College Assessment Center webpage!

The Assessment Center provides testing services that meet the various needs of the student population. Services include test administration of the Accuplacer for college placement and for Texas Success Initiative(TSI) requirements, CLEP (credit by examination) and external (non-Alamo Colleges) correspondence testing.

***IMPORTANT UPDATE: EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 2012, THE THEA-IBT EXAM WILL NO LONGER BE PROVIDED AT THE ALAMO COLLEGES.***

Northeast Lakeview College will provide the Accuplacer to students requesting an assessment exam after that date.

ACCUPLACER

The Accuplacer is a computerized placement test that is a state-approved instrument for TSI and a placement test for students who have no test records for acceptance to higher education. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board recognized the need for students to meet necessary skills in Reading, English, and Math skills to attain college success. Results of the Accuplacer test help academic advisors identify students’ academic strengths as well as areas where a student might need more development to succeed in college. It is very important that students do their best in order to have an accurate measure of their academic skills, thereby placing them in the right courses.

For First time in College students, before you request an appointment and pay for the Accuplacer you must perform the following:

  1. Complete an ApplyTexas application for one of the Alamo Colleges at www.applytexas.org.  Applications can take 3-5 business days for processing.
  2. Confirm that your application has been processed through the Alamo Colleges online portal ACES.
  3. Submit official high school transcripts for evaluation of previous test scores (ex. TAKS, SAT, and/or ACT) for possible TSI and placement exemptions.
  4. Complete the required MyMaps modules online via ACES.
  5. Obtain your Student ID number also known as a Banner ID. You will need your Banner ID to make an appointment to take the Accuplacer exam. What is my Banner ID?

For Transfer students, before you request an appointment and pay for the Accuplacer you must perform the following:

  2. Confirm that your application has been processed through the Alamo Colleges online portal ACES.

Assessment Retest Policy

UPDATED: Students are allowed to retest on the next available test date.  This includes retesting all parts, one or multiple parts.

For all second or subsequent retests, we recommend the student retest after 2 weeks or after they have attended a formal college test prep intervention program (e.g. PASS) to improve their current test scores.

This policy applies to the Accuplacer only.

This is a 90-minute test and after completion, students have the option of submitting or not submitting their CLEP scores to be posted in their college transcript. This exam is available to Northeast Lakeview College students and members of the surrounding community.
