Upcoming Events:

Fall 2017:
AMT faculty and students will host hands-on demonstrations at campus and community events (Continuing through Spring 2018).

October 23-25, 2017:
AMT faculty and selected students to attend Advanced Technological Education conference in Washington DC. Participants will present outcomes and successes resulting from the National Science Foundation grant during the 2016-2017 academic year.

Spring 2018:
Specialized internships for AMT students will be offered at Southwest Research Institute.

April 2018:
AMT faculty will partner with local and national industry experts to host a free Nanotechnology conference open to the NVC community as well as the public.


Past Events:

June 5-8, 2017:
“Educate the Educator” workshop:
12 educators representing local middle schools, high schools, and colleges attended this four-day workshop led by Penn State’s NACK team.

June 5-9, 2017:
“Intro to Nanotechnology” workshop for high schools students:
Students from a range of San Antonio-area high schools participated in lectures and trainings led by the NACK team and representatives from Bio-Link in Austin.

June 12-July 27, 2017:
10-credit Advanced Materials Technology cohort offered to a cohort of 18 high school and 8 college students. 16 high school students earned Community Education credits which may be converted into college credit. 5 NVC college students earned the Occupational Skills Award. Off-campus learning experiences included visits to UTSA, Austin Community College: Highland Campus, Toyota manufacturing plant, Southwest Research Institute, and Texas State University STAR Park.
