Black History Month - San Antonio Symphony, String Quartet in Concert
Location: Palmetto Center for the Arts - Auditorium
This concert at NVC is an outgrowth of the Residency Program, a collaboration of St. Philip’s College and the San Antonio Symphony. Free and open to the entire Northwest Vista community.

The Residency Program, now in its 22nd season, is a collaboration of St. Philip’s College and the San Antonio Symphony to broaden understanding and appreciation of music amongst new and diverse audiences. Throughout the five-day residency, the public is invited at no cost to attend all concerts and open rehearsals held on the main campus of St. Philip’s College the Watson Fine Arts Center. The finale concert will feature the full orchestra in a performance of works by Tower, Barber, Perkinson, Ravel and Rachmaninoff’s powerful Symphony No. 2. Concert is free but reservations are required by calling (210) 486-2704.


Black History Month - Residency with Fulbright Scholar/Musician Dr. Oluwafemi Faseun
Location: Palmetto 107
Dr. Oluwafemi Faseun is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Theater Arts and Music at Lagos State University in Lagos, Nigeria. Activities include lecture-demonstration, workshop, and informal meet-the-scholar sessions, which are open to all Northwest Vista students. This visit gives students across disciplines a chance to experience African perspectives, ideas, and sounds during Black History Month, a time when the nation highlights African, African Diaspora, and African-American cultural contributions.
