Student Story: Caitlin

Caitlin Gaitan, 19, chose to attend Northwest Vista College to save time and money.

“I'm hoping to graduate with my associate degree in 2014. I want to finish soon because my older brother, a graduate of Northwest Vista, will be graduating with his B.A. from UTSA that same year. My younger brother will also be graduating from William J. Brennan High School in 2014.”

Caitlin said attending NVC is much less of a financial burden when two family members are in college: her at Vista and her brother at a university.

Caitlin had another reason to attend NVC – she practically grew up at the college. Her mother is a long-time NVC employee and Caitlin is very familiar with the campus.

After completing her associate degree, Caitlin’s goal is to transfer to UTSA and major in English. She hopes to be an editor for up-and-coming authors or work for a newspaper. In addition to pursuing her goals, Caitlin is also a member of the NVC Wildcat Volleyball team.

Caitlin says she’s happy she picked NVC to get her start.
