Minerva Muniz
One of the first smiling faces you might encounter upon arriving at the President’s Office belongs to Minerva Muniz.
As an administrative secretary, Minerva works closely with the dean of performance excellence, maintaining her calendar and scheduling her appointments. She also handles purchasing requests and supports the director of college and grants development. And when students show up at the office seeking assistance, Minerva is always more than willing to help.
Minerva, who earned an associate of arts degree in business administration from Central New Mexico Community College, understands the value and importance of two-year colleges.
“Students benefit from small classes, and instructors have more time and opportunities to interact with students,” she says.
She officially began her community college career at Central New Mexico Community College, working on a grant funded by the Department of Energy. After four years, she took some time off for the birth of her first child before returning to CNM to work in Student Support Services under a TRIO grant, then in the President’s Office.
Prior to arriving at Northwest Vista College, she worked in the financial aid office at the University of Texas at El Paso.
“Minerva is a problem solver,” says Dean of Performance Excellence Julie Pace. “She foresees problems and takes care of them before they arise. I am so grateful to work with her.”
In her spare time, Minerva enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. Whether taking forays to the library, park or swimming pool, each experience is a joyous adventure. Which is how she greets every day at Northwest Vista College: with joy.
“Everyone is flexible, which helps create a laidback atmosphere,” she says. “Northwest Vista College is a very warm, welcoming place.”
