How do I submit a Service Request?

Click on Submit Service Request link 

  1. Type in UserID, same as ACES ID. 
  2. Enter password (same one used to logon to computer).   If you don't know your password, please call (210) 486-4777. 

My USB drive no longer work on the monitor

  1. Plug USB drive to another available USB port
  2. Reset the monitor - unplug power from monitor and hold down power button for 30 secs, plug power back in, restart monitor.
  3. Plug USB drive directly to Computer and report issue to NVC Help Desk at (210) 486-4777

Monitor is powered on, but no video

Make sure the monitor cable is connected snug to the video port on the back of monitor and computer.

Not enough memory to print.

Close some of the extra applications running on your workstation, and reboot the machine if problem persists. 

Computer will not connect to network

Check network cable to make sure it is plugged into wall port and back of computer

*network cable looks like large phone chord.

GoPrint not printing

Make sure GoPrint icon (red half circle with black "Go") is visible on lower right hand corner by time clock

If still not printing contact nearest computer lab administrator for assistance.

 

What is the S drive?

The S drive is a network drive for Student temporary file/folder storage.  It is available at every campus student station.

Machine is out of resources.

Close some of the extra applications running on your workstation, and reboot the machine if problem persists.

I lost my wireless connection, what do I need to do?

Option 1: Reboot your laptop. This will reestablish your network connection to the wireless access point.
Option 2: Open up Wirless Connection Manager Program and make sure you are connected to the Guest Wireless connection

Guest Wireless system will drop connection after 10 minutes of inactivity

How do I logon on to the computer?

  1. Hold down Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys to retrieve the logon window.
  2. In the User Name field type Logon ID (ex. MLH301-01)
  3. In the Password field type the default password or contact Instructor for password

What do I do when I lose connectivity and can't access the Internet or my network drives?

  1. Close all applications that are currently running and shut down your system.
  2. Wait a couple of minutes and then turn on your system. This will re-establish your network connection.
  3. If you still do not gain connectivity, check the network cable

Word processor will only save documents as templates.

 The word processor program has a virus. Run anti-virus software to remove the virus from all documents.

No sound

Click the speaker icon in the lower right corner of the taskbar and make sure that the mute control is not on & volume controls are set to the desired levels.

Errors when starting machine

In Windows Explorer, select View and then Options. Add a new type for the file you want to be associated with a program.

Monitor is displaying distorted colors

Check the connector and cable for bent or damaged pins.

Too many applications are running at once.

Close some of the extra applications running on your workstation, and reboot the machine if problem persists.
