In addition to the website, Human Resources will be conducting information sessions at each campus. Any employee can attend any session on any campus. The NVC sessions are July 17 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Mountain Laurel Hall (MLH), room 120 and July 26 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in MLH, room 117.
Sign Up for Canvas Training
Summertime, and the livin' is easy... as long as you have Canvas! For those of you who are planning to complete your Canvas training over the summer, please click here to sign up. The course is completely online and self-paced; it will take you approx. 2-8 hours to complete. You will also be given a blank sandbox course to begin playing, practicing, and building. If you have any questions or need more information, please call 210-486-4768 or email nvc-distancelearn@alamo.edu.
Parking Garage Construction on Campus
The construction of a parking garage is underway. Part of Lot 6, which is the lot adjacent to Huisache Hall and the Boardwalk, will be closed for the next 14 months. The garage is scheduled to be completed in late July, 2013. There is ample parking for the enrollment this summer. In the fall semester, NVC will run more buses than usual to the overflow lot at SeaWorld San Antonio on Military Drive. Please be careful to stay out of the posted construction zones. The building of this garage will be a bit challenging for the NVC community, but it is going to be a welcome relief to have an additional 550 parking spaces in 2013.
Art Show at Palmetto
The current two-person show, titled "La Mordita" in the Palmetto Center of the Arts will be up for the duration of summer. The invited artists are David Freeman and Chris Leonard, who currently teach at South Texas College in McAllen, TX.
Both artists’ work reflects their visual experiences living in the Rio Grande Valley. Chris and David have been involved in several exchanges with NVC including faculty art shows, symposiums, and the South Texas Ceramic Showdown that takes place each year at South Texas College which involves over 15 colleges and universities in the region.
