NVC Information Literacy Academy

The first NVC Information Literacy Academy began in October 2016 with 28 participants. The Academy consisted of six workshops led by NVC librarians. An Information Literacy Academy graduate took on the role of working with faculty in their discipline as they incorporated information literacy skills into rubrics, assignments, discussions, etc.

The Academy consisted of five workshops and a capstone presentation. The dates fell on first Fridays, designed for Faculty Development. Most of the first time participants were current, experienced Quality Enhancement Plan liaisons.

QEP Focus for 2016-2017:  Ethical Use of Information

Northwest Vista College employees are committed to helping students.  Our goal is to inFUSE  information literacy skills both in and outside the classroom. The letter "U" in inFUSE stands for: 

  •  Using critical thinking skills to discern and analyze information That situation may include:
  •  Using sources that are creditable;
  •  Using sources ethically by properly citing work used;
  •  Using available campus resources to find help: labs, support services, scholarships and financial aid;
  •  Using appropriate resources and tools to find an internship or a job in your chosen career on or off campus;
