Hours of Operation:

Fri. and Sat. 9 am – 12 pm
The English and Reading Advocacy Center is a unique support center for students in developmental English, Developmental Reading, and English 1301, 1302 courses. An English & Reading Advocate will be here to help you explore career options, develop a degree plan, choose courses, and more.
If you are thinking about dropping a developmental English, reading, or math class, or English 1301, for any reason, come see an Advocate for drop counseling. To drop a course in any other discipline, please contact that Academic Area/Department or Enrollment Services for help.
During a session with the advocate, he or she can help determine if dropping the course is the best solution for you. Even if you think there may be no way to avoid dropping, the advocate may know of a way for you to still remain in the course, catch up with missed material, transfer to a different class, or provide you with an opportunity to finish the class successfully without having to retake it later.
In addition to drop counseling, we are also home to the English 1301+, 1302+ writing lab. Students enrolled in this accelerated, 4-credit hour composition course are required to attend a weekly lab hour in Juniper Hall 308. This supplemental hour is designed to offer one-on-one instruction in writing that coincides with the weekly goals and learning outcomes of the composition course. The labs are a means to “accelerate” students’ learning experiences by giving students access to outside resources designed to better develop their writing abilities.
