The irrigation technician supports his or her licensed landscape irrigator by properly connecting an irrigation system to a water supply under the supervision of the irrigator.
Recent state regulations require that irrigation technicians earn a license as a result of an exam administered by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). This course presents the students with the information required to take the state exam. In order to maintain practice, the irrigation technician is responsible for keeping the license current and valid.
The irrigation technician course will present the rules, regulations, and standards with respect to irrigation practice in Texas. Irrigation technicians must work under the supervision of a licensed irrigator. The course will instruct the student on how to interpret the designs provided by licensed irrigators. Covered in the courses are the irrigation system components, backflow prevention devices, hydraulics, and installation techniques.
