Social Work

The Social Work program at Palo Alto strives to provide the student with the foundations necessary to prepare them for completion of their academic career which will result in a professional social work degree.

Social Work Careers

Social workers in Texas are required to have a license and at minimum, a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from an accredited school.

Both BSW and MSW social workers are employed in a variety of settings to include schools, universities, nursing homes, public health and mental health agencies, child protective services, hospitals, the criminal justice system and social service agencies.

Salary Information

The median pay for social workers with:

  • 2-4 years experience is $35,000
  • 5-9 years, $43,000
  • 10-14 years, $50,000
  • 20-24 years, $55,000
  • 25 or more years $60,000
