Writing Assistance Center
The Writing Assistance Center assists Palo Alto College students enrolled in any course that requires writing assignments. Computers, a printer, reference books, and writing and grammar handouts are available to complete classwork. Please note that tutoring is on a walk-in basis and is first come, first served. Appointments are also available. Call or come by the center to schedule a time. Scheduled appointments have priority over walk-ins.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I bring?
If you need help starting your paper, we'll just need to know what the assignment is. Please also bring any relevant notes, an outline, or a draft if you have it.
Also bring your questions: What problems have you had on other papers? What problems are you having on this paper? Has your professor made suggestions to improve your writing? No one is born an awesome writer—every tutor knows that it takes practice, but we're here to help. Think of us as your personal trainer.
Can I write and print my essay there?
Absolutely! We have a computer lab in Gutierrez Learning Labs 104 where you can type up any paper and print it. Printing costs 10 cents per page, and you're charged through the GoPrint system. If you don't have an account, you'll need to set one up with a credit or debit card.
If I can't come in for a one-on-one tutoring session, are there other options?
In addition to one-on-one tutoring, we offer workshops to help you improve your writing! We focus on core concepts with our reoccurring, monthly workshops. In addition, we offer workshops that correspond to the curriculum issued by PAC's English department. Our workshops are interactive and last about an hour. Browse through our workshops page or come by for more information! Check out our online workshops at the following link Online Workshops.
