Inaugural Advancing Latino Male Achievement Conference

Join us for San Antonio College’s first-ever conference on Latino Males success! Come to the Inaugural Conference on College Success for Latino Male – Advancing Latino Male Achievement.  

The goal of this one-day conference is to provide men of color with opportunities for personal and professional growth, promote community leadership, and encourage the pursuit of opportunities in higher education, so that they may achieve their goals and have a positive impact on their lives and the lives of others. Lunch and giveaways provided. Scholarships will be awarded.  

WHEN : Thursday, May 22, 10:30 a.m.–4 p.m. 


COST : FREE – Lunch and giveaways provided! Scholarships will be awarded. 

THEME : Redefining Machismo  


10 am – Check-in Begins 

10:30 am–11 am – Welcoming Remarks 

11 am–12 pm – Special guest speaker: Roy Juarez, Jr. 

12 pm–12:45 pm – Lunch and welcome from Dr. Zeigler, Dr. Vela, and Dean Mendiola – Dr. Vela: Keynote on “Redefining Machismo” 

1 pm–2pm – Breakout session 1 

2:15 pm–3:15 pm – Breakout session 2 

3:30 pm–4 pm – Closing remarks and scholarships awarded (must be present to win).

Event is limited to first 60 RSVPs. 

This is a community-wide conference, and you do not need to be a SAC or Alamo Colleges student to attend.
