SAC Gets $38K from Baptist Health Foundation

The Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio awarded San Antonio College $38,000 for grants/scholarships for students in health education fields, including nursing. This year’s award of $38,000 is a $13,000 increase over 2017.

“We are extremely appreciative of the Baptist Health Foundation’s generous gift for our students,” claimed Dr. Robert Vela, president of San Antonio College. “These funds will be put to good use to help our students prepare themselves to serve our community.”

The Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio funds health education that prepares "tomorrow's healthcare providers and leaders" by annually providing scholarship grants to eligible students who reside and are attending local universities, colleges, and schools in Bexar County and its adjoining counties service areas.

This year’s grant will go to help students pursuing one the following areas of study: 

  • Dental Assisting
  • EMS/EMT
  • Human Services - Counseling
  • Medical Assisting
  • Nursing


San Antonio College is one of the city’s leading training and educational institutions for future healthcare providers. Each year, San Antonio College enrolls about 20,000 students overall with about 800 to 1,000 students being enrolled in a specific healthcare program.
