Richard Farias, M.A.
Interim Dean of Student Success

Interim Dean Richard FariasRichard Farias began his career at San Antonio College as a member of the English faculty, first as an adjunct in Fall 2005 and then full-time in Fall 2006.  As faculty for eight years, he was involved in a variety of departmental initiatives, as well as serving as a liaison to numerous college-wide activities.  He chaired the college's Hispanic Heritage Month program from 2008-2010, created the college's Coming Out Week LGBT program in 2011, taught in the Honors Academy, and advised student clubs and organizations.

In April 2013, Mr. Farias was hired to serve as Director of Student Activities.  In that capacity, he and the Student Life staff created SAC's New Student Orientation program, bringing together staff and faculty from multiple departments.  In addition, during his tenure, he brought back men's and women's club basketball teams, and began a local chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success.  In August 2015, he began serving as Interim Dean of Student Success.

Mr. Farias is a proud native San Antonian, growing up attending public schools in Northside ISD, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Englilsh and Philosophy at the University of the Incarnate Word, and a Master of Arts in English at the University of Texas at San Antonio.  He is passionate about serving his community to improve educational access and success.
