Student Highlight - Miguel Alcorn

Moved by lyrics, cadence and rhythm, Miguel is more than just an aspiring musician, amateur spoken word artist and former member of the Judson High School Men’s Choir. He is a poet.

While he has always been interested in music—most especially hip-hop and R&B—Miguel didn’t actually learn to read music until his senior year in high school.

After graduating high school in May 2014, he decided to attend San Antonio College for the audio engineering program. At SAC, Miguel discovered poetry “in a big way” which led him to do more writing and spoken word.

As a young Black/Hispanic man, Miguel felt called to join the SACMEN group where he helps provide opportunities for young minority male students. He is also a founding member of SAC’s Hammock Club.

This Fall, Miguel will graduate from SAC with a Liberal Arts degree and hopes to transfer to Texas State University’s Music Studies program.

As a young twenty-something, Miguel currently lives at home with his older sister, mom, and their dog, Pepper.

Miguel is artistic, musical, caring, motivated, ambitious, educated and SAC PROUD.
