NON-COURSE-BASED REMEDIATION (NCBR)

Students may participate in non-course-based remediation (NCBR) through the BSEP as an alternative to course-based remediation. The course is held according to the regular class schedule and is non-graded. There are no college credit hours attached to the courses; therefore, participation will not count toward number of hours needed for financial aid. In order to meet the recommended 6 to 10 hours per week, students will supplement the lecture course with working in the computer lab. At this time NCBR is offered only for math.

WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM NCBR CLASSES?

  • Students who need to strengthen basic algebra skills before continuing in credit math class sequence
  • Student who need exit score of 76 on the AccuPlacer test for program completion or graduation
  • Students who have taken MATH 0301 but want to feel more confident before continuing to MATH 0302.
